11 22 08 The End of an Era As of Nov. 17 the site of www.honda-tech.com underwent a change for the worse. After spending over four and a half years on it, it is now a site I will no longer be a part of, along with many other OG members. The demise of the site started a long time ago, but I'll keep it to what I know. About a year ago the site was sold to Internet Brands, a corporation that owns many automotive forums. Advertising rates were raised more than twofold forcing many of the best sponsers and supporters of Honda-Tech to leave. Soon there became a point that threads were locked and posts deleted that referenced companies and parts who were not paid advertisers on the site. Hard to have a discussion if you can't mention the name of the product/service you're discussing. It all hit the fan this past Sunday when good old Internet Brands decided to switch the forum from the ZeroForum software that has been used on the site since 2000 to VBulletin. Instead of being intelligent individuals and notifying everyone well in advance, they waited until two hours before the change to make a thread warning everyone to back up their PM's and Notes. For those that happened to not visit the site in that two hours, they were shit out of luck. Businesses lost contact and order info, members lost saved builds and specs, along with PM's discussing payments for parts and shipping addresses. Internet Brands owns VBulletin, so for them it was more price efficient to switch, but they did not care about how the users felt. The majority of the Moderators were against the change, but IB is here to make a buck, they didn't care. For many ZeroForum is what Honda-Tech the site it was, but now with corporate ownership already showing they don't care about their users' opinions many of us have decided to leave. The Honda community has now become split across numerous different forums. Only time will tell which will bring everyone together to eventually take over as what the old Honda-Tech was. You'll still be able to find all my pictures here with links, so don't stop visiting here. But if you're looking for more of a honda fix try checking out www.nwp4life.com or www.honda-tekh.com.
